Smoking Cessation
Studies show that your chances of success will be greatly improved if you get advice and support from health care professionals to help you stop smoking. The services we offer from the Practice can:

- Concentrate your efforts by getting advice from someone who knows your medical background
- Help you feel that you’re not doing it alone
- Help you to cope when you are tempted to smoke
- Monitor improvements to your health so that you can see the benefits
If you’re trying to give up smoking, we can help in any of the following ways, whichever suits you best.
- Our Practice Nurses have been trained to offer specialist smoking cessation advice and help can outline how you would benefits from not smoking and will identify the improvements to your health that you could expect to see as a result.
- We can offer you a one-to one weekly session with our Practice Nurse to monitor your progress.
- We can refer you to group therapy with a counsellor, where you and other people in the programme can talk through the problems of stopping smoking and share tips on how to cope when you're tempted to smoke.
- We can give you telephone advice and send you self-help materials if you don’t want face to face advice.
Other treatments are available which could include Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
